Prayers For Your Marriage


Love – Help me to love my spouse in a godly manner that is pleasing to You. “Each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband”  Ephesians 5:33.

Sin – Protect my marriage from the influence of sexual sin. “Run away from sexual sin”  I Corinthians.6:18.

Honor – Teach me to honor my spouse and marriage above other responsibilities. “Marriage is to be held in honor among all” Hebrews 13:4.

Forgiveness – Give me a forgiving heart for my spouse when mistakes are made. “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you” Matthew 6:14.

Kindness – Help me to be kind and considerate in the words I speak. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths” Ephesians 4:29.

Intimacy – Bless our times of companionship and intimacy together. “…and let the marriage bed be undefiled” Hebrews 13:4.

Children – Give me wisdom to raise our children in a godly home and marriage. “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it” Proverbs 22:6.

Prayer – Remind me to pray for my spouse on a daily basis. “…Pray for one another”  James 5:16

Unity – Help us to have unity as we make family decisions together. “… Put on love which is the perfect bond of unity” Colossians 3:14.

Finances – Help me to manage our finances in a wise and biblical manner. “Honor the Lord with your wealth” Proverbs 3:9.

Disputes – Teach me to handle our disputes with respect and fairness.  “Show proper respect to everyone” I Peter 3:17.

Needs – Guide me to be sensitive to the emotional needs of my spouse.  “… clothe yourselves with        compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness  and  patience” Colossians 3:12.

Problems – Teach me not to use the problems from our past as a weapon in our future.  “…forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead” Philippians 3:13

Home – Help me to be disciplined in the care of my home and marriage to create a refuge for my family.  “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth”   Proverbs 10:4.

Feelings – Train me to focus my mind on the Word of God when I begin to have negative thoughts and feelings about my spouse. “…Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right” Philippians 4:8

Commitment – Grow our devotion and commitment for each other. “For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh” Genesis 2:24

Strength – Bless our marriage with strength and stability that we might be a godly example to others.  “…in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe” I Timothy 4:12.
